Scams and Dailies

Typically news follows the LIFO concept, the last to get into your head is the first to get out. Scams and unscrupulous men make it to the front pages of our country's national newspapers while applauds and achievements make it to the last pages. If you don't believe me..then open our national daily "Hindu" and check out the last page for all the "good news". So it becomes natural for a person to open the last page, rather than the first at times.

Our nation's print and electronic media giants need to be introspect the kind of news they feed us with .The most respected journos are caught on tapes lobbying with scamsters! How could a journalist, write an article based on what a business lobbyist expects him to ? "Pen is mightier than sword" but here that proverb has been exploited. Is this a case of corruption? Newspapers and magazines in India were the means of spreading the truth that "Swaraj is my birth right and I shall have it" ,finally releasing us from the strings of British rule 63 years ago.Smart industrialists influence the minds of the common man through pens of these "elite" journos! For a month I have been making it a point to read who has written the article rather than what the article is about. Funny but that's how things are happening in our country. Very few individuals write what they think should reach the masses.
Twitter may be a micro blogging site but it has also been instrumental in showing the doors to the glib tongued of our nation from the most coveted posts. Wiki leaks seems to be more powerful in revealing the Truth!

Personally as a blogger I have written one about the UID project deeply impressed by the whole concept after watching a television program, but I realised that the concept has its dose of errors , after surfing to gather more details. Now my opinion is that its better to enclose the photocopies of the PAN card, Ration Card , Driving license as a proof of our identity, till we are tagged with the unique identity number.

So, here's a young Indian wishing that next Christmas she gets to open the newspaper, reading first to last, happily picking up the main paper first rather than the supplement to refresh her morning with more interesting news!

Merry Christmas !

Lakshya hai tera

These are the lyrics of the song from the hindi movie LAKSHYA sung my shankar mahadevan.

Haan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi sapna hai tera, tune pehchaana hai

Haan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi sapna hai tera, tune pehchaana hai
Tujhe ab ye dikhaana hai
Roke tujhko aandhiyaan, ya zameen aur aasmaan
Paayega jo lakshya hai tera
Lakshya toh har haal mein paana hai

Mushkil koyi, aajaaye toh, parbat koyi, takraaye toh
Taaqat koyi, dikhlaaye toh, toofaan koyi, mandlaaye toh
Mushkil koyi aajaaye toh, parbat koyi takraaye toh
Barse chaahe ambar se aag, lipte chaahe pairon se laakh -2
Paayega jo lakshya hai tera
Lakshya toh har haal mein paana hai

Himmat se jo koyi chale, dharti hille qadmon tale
Kya dooriyaan kya faasle, manzil lage aake gale
Himmat se jo koyi chale, dharti hille qadmon tale
Tu chal yunhi ab sub-o-shaam, rukna, jhukna nahin tera kaam -2
Paayega jo lakshya hai tera
Lakshya toh har haal mein paana hai

Haan yehi rasta hai tera, tune ab jaana hai
Haan yehi sapna hai tera, tune pehchaana hai
Tujhe ab ye dikhaana hai

Sattar Minute Hai Tumhare Paas

Shah Rukh Khan is acclaimed for those dialogues are pervasive to set right all the nuts and bolts of your body, especially when its from the movie Chak De India.
Here are the lyrics of the famous Sattar Minute( before the game of hockey is played Kabir Khan gives his final boost of confidence to his girls to prove it to the world...) AMAZINGG!! :):)
"sattar minute hai tumhaare paas...
shaayad tumhaare zindagi ke sabse khaas saattar minute..
Aaj tum achchha khelo ya bura
yeh sattar minute tumhe zindagi bhar yaad rahenge
toh kaise khelna hai, aaj main tumhe nahi bataaunga
bas itana kahunga, ki jaao aur yeh sattar minute jee bhar ke khel lo
kyun ki iske baad aanewaali zindagi mein,
chaahe kuchh sahi ho ya na ho..
chaahe kuchh rahe ya na rahe, tum haaro ya jeeto
lekin yeh sattar minute, tumse koi nahi chheen sakta, koi nahin!!
Toh maine socha ki iss match mein kaise khelna hai
aaj main tumhein nahi bataaunga, balki tum mujhe bataaoge, khel kar
kyun ki main jaanta hoon ki agar yeh sattar minute
iss team ka har player apni zindagi ki sabsi badiya hockey khel gaya
toh yeh sattar minute khuda bhi tumse waapas nahin maang sakata
toh jaao, jaao aur apne aap se, iss zindagi se, apne khuda se
aur har uss insaan se jisne tum par bharosa nahi kiya
apne sattar minute chheen lo" [actual dialogue]

70 minutes. you have 70 minutes
Probably the most important 70 minutes of your life
Today, whether you play well or not
You will remember these 70 minutes for the rest of your life
So I will not tell you how to play today,
All I will say is go out there and play these 70 minutes to their fullest
Because after this moment, whatever happens in life
Whether its good or not,
Whatever the end result is, whether you win or lose
No one can take these 70 minutes away from you, no one!
So, I have decided,
I will no tell you how to play today, YOU will tell me, by playing.
Because I know that in these 70 minutes, if every player in this team plays the best hockey game of her life
Then even God cannot take these 70 minutes away from you
So go! Go and from yourselves, from this life, from your God, and from every person who didn’t have faith in you
Go snatch your 70 minutes. [english translation.]

Remembered this two days before my first aptitude test for a job!

My Take on Jargon

It is a really strenuous task being a biotechnology graduate looking up an IT company website, where certain terms like 'domains', 'verticals' , 'markets' , 'upturn' , 'venture capitals', etc pop up in most of the pages. When I am doing this I feel  learning basic communication English is insufficient for an individual to enter the REAL Business world. There is this arena which a college student never comes in contact to- the industry requirements, which is actually true. We are too busy with 'olarifying', 'bulb kudthufying' , 'Smalichifying'  half the time that we are looked archaic in the beginning in the biz world .But after all, what is college life without all these 'typical' jargon, the next 20 years your are destined to be thrusted  the responsibility of using it either at office or at least to understand what your husband or brother comes home ranting about from his office.

Secondly, there is a gadget language being spoken today , where you have terms like  speed,  microprocessor, RAM, Battery life time, support features, Android-Smart phone,Touch,Tab, Pad( I have picked up the simple ones, because I am very bad at equipping these terms myself, thanks to God for blessing me with the ability to understand things, but I find it difficult to use such jargon ,if truth be said) Being a person who is really not keen on learning this kind of jargon at school, I entered college, but never did I think that after handling my pal's mob would I turn out watching a 'Gadget Guru' or a' TechnoHolik', which was a show i used to skip, it was like Greek and Latin then.Following technical blogs for past few months, may be a transformation to suit a new field I am heading towards. Or have I have turned out to be a victim of the technology revolution , it should be an "Artificial Evolution'' ?

 Artificial Evolution!
Everything at home seems to be 'S.M.A.R.T.' - something which can do a job on its own with few instructions. Washing Machines, Televisions, Automobile, Mobile phones , Microwave ovens, Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, the list seems to go on. Just imagine how a idiot box working with an antenna had to be kept steady with a piece of steel rod, after a gentle wind made it wobble, is now DTH connection based! Amazing is the HD television, giving you a real time picture clarity. Of course all this happens at the cost of investment and not all Indian homes can afford it, but its happening everywhere, India is heading towards the great technology make over, which is sure to bring India to the top very soon. When the west comes hunting for recruiters to our nation , the super power dream is not far behind folks!

So ultimately coming to the point, an individual cannot remain oblivious to the jargon anymore, its better to know the basics of it. Happy Jargon!

Aish Replayyy

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned 37 this week, the diva seems to rule the box office even at this age, with eyes popping out irrespective of age and gender captivated by the beauty and charm, she may well continue to rule the film world in her forties as well. This year the Mistress of Spices has four films in her kitty, Raavan, Endiran/Robot, Guzaarish and Action Replayy , every movie is special either for its magnificent star cast or director's cult status. The lady who began her career under the direction of Mani Ratnam in Iruvar along side one of the most talented actors of the country, Mohanlal and then went on to mesmerize us as the Madhumitha in  Shankar's Jeans, seems to have either a Midas touch which turns most of her movies into landmarks in Indian Cinema. Aishwarya may be the most beautiful face of the Indian cinema but that doesn't put her acting skills under question. I personally feel that her acting talent is hidden by the kind of charm her face bears, many films stand a testimony to the same: whether its the role of the love lost woman in Kandukondain Kandukondein, the abused wife in Provoked, the reverent Jodha, the married woman who searches for her boyfriend along with her husband on the streets of London in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, a
hot babe in Dhoom2, the cop in Khaki , the Manasi of  Taal or the rustic gangster's sister in Josh.

The role she essayed should be envied by every actress, having  played dramatic roles such as Paro of Devdas to the item girl in Shakti with Shahrukh Khan, she seems to have checked most of the list of characters an actress would love to play in her life. She has acted with every top actor in Bollywood starting with the Khans, Govinda, Akshay Kumar ,Ajay Devgan, SanjayDutt, Akshay Khanna, Bobby Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan to the South Indian 'superstars' like Rajnikanth, Mohanlal, Mamooty Nagarjuna, Vikram, Ajith and Prithviraj.

If the roles are not sufficient to seriously be impressed by this lady's luck, she has danced to some of the best tunes churned by the top notch music directors, songs which exploit her dancing prowess and create magic on screen. She creates a kind of illusion on screen which makes us watch the video of the song with rapt attention. The elegance and limber in her dance makes us stop wondering on why she is always the beauty queen despite having won the Miss World title nearly 18 years back. It take a lot of attitude and persistent hard work both on the physical and mental front to be still treated as a Diva, when young and vivacious actresses are entering the market.

Having essayed many of these roles,a billion people are  waiting to watch her play the most special role any woman on this planet is blessed by Him to play! Good Luck ASH!

The Lapse of a Capricorn

OCT 23 rd: On 18/10/2010 I was roaming in the corridors to stealthily escape from my college to prepare for my exams. It was then that i was informed of a placement by a US based Biotech company the subsequent day. For a person like me who is waitng for every opportunity to escape to the US without an inch of financial trouble to her parents...my dreams vroomed to a lab in the neuroscience department in a university where i was testing the possibility of simulating a human brain with circuits! Awesome it sounds na! Thud! Everything fell down like a cloud burst....washed off the way even Brahmaputra would be kind enough not to if it had met me....!

All dreams transcended the speed of light with a false promise or rather an offer for an interview by a company to make my professor's students their " workforce" !  I piled up my documents for the INTERVIEW with the 'coveted' company. I browsed through their website may be 'n' times , where n is greater than 24 hrs! I  looked up Naukri.com , Jobsahead, and all job search engines to identify the job profile. Then got a profile of a HR staff of that 'expertise' demanding company on FB through my friend and looked through every comment and post for the slightest hint of the company's expectations. My hopes started turning into multistorey buildings ( the way our CWG complexes were constructed).

On 23/10/2010 , ready to attend the interview and post the ' PLACED' term that evening on my Fb wall...to announce to the world of my financial security o n the cyber space. And their after 15 min of my arrival at the hotel for an interview....my friend bombed me with the news of the interview unlikely to happen. It was then that I was slowly laughing at myself like a nut , unable to see all the castles and advanced wishes of a job fall one by one...!!!Hmm...may be lesson learnt is don't Dream too BIG! :)

The Capricornian Nature seems to be too much in me - The ambitious nature! Need to change a bit! :)
Better luck next time to me and my friends!:)

N Krishnan is the only Indian in a list of 10 heroes that CNN has picked worldwide to honour!

This is an extract from a forward describing the work of  Narayan Krishnan , one among ten voted for CNN heroes.

New Delhi:  If you had not heard of Narayanan Krishnan, as I had not, it is a collective failure. This is one of the most incredible stories of personal commitment
Narayanan Krishnan, all of 29 years old now, does what he was professionally trained to do as a chef. Feed people. Only Krishnan does not do this in the swanky confines of a 5-star hotel. Every day, he wakes up at 4 am, cooks a simple hot meal and then, along with his team, loads it in a van and travels about 200 km feeding the homeless in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

Krishnan feeds, often with his hands, almost 400 destitute people every day. And for those who need it, he provides a free haircut too.

According to CNN, eight years ago, this award-winning chef with a five-star hotel chain was all set to go to Switzerland for a high-profile posting. On a visit to a Madurai temple, he came across a homeless, old man eating his own human waste. That stark sight changed Krishnan's life.

Much to the dismay of his parents, CNN says, Krishnan abandoned his career plans and decided to spend his life and his professional training in looking after those who could not care for themselves. He has provided more than 1.2 million hot meals through his nonprofit organisation Akshaya Trust, and now hopes to extend this to shelter for the homeless too.

Krishnan is the only Indian in a list of 10 heroes that CNN has picked worldwide to honour. One of them will be chosen CNN Hero of the Year, selected by the public through an online poll. If many Indians get together to vote for this inspiring man, he can win by a long mile.

If Krishnan wins he will get $100,000 in addition to the $25,000 that he gets for being shortlisted for the Top 10. Akshaya Trust needs all the monetary support it can get to build on Krishnan's dream. Let's help him get there.

Vote for Krishnan here.   (http://heroes.cnn.com/vote.aspx)The poll continues through November 18 at 6 a.m. ET.

MBA story

With the CAT round the corner..i felt that this article may be of some use to any aspirant of the 'Master of Business Administration degree'

By Debashis Chatterjee, 14/10/2010
Surviving an MBA: The untold story

IIM-K director takes you into a world of no baths, no breakfasts, no time

The IIMs produce roughly 5 per cent of the MBA population in the country. We select our students through the Combined Admissions Test (CAT) examination. For every 100 students who take the CAT exam, only one makes it to one of the IIMs. The CAT-scanned boys and girls represent a selection of excellence that is unparalleled in the world.

The popularity of the MBA program comes from a very stiff entry barrier and multiple exit options in the form of job opportunities. This is unlike university courses where the entry barrier is not that high and job options are much less.

It is only natural, then, that recruiters in industry pay a lot of attention to our students and consider them fit for lucrative jobs. Where else would recruiters find such tried and tested students with a very high degree of general intelligence?

Having started on a note of optimism, I wish to share with you the untold story of what actually happens once you get into the MBA programme. The views expressed here do not pertain to IIMs in particular, but to most good MBA schools in general.

Getting admission to the MBA program is only part of the story. Being selected is just one function of your test-taking ability. It may not have much to do with your managerial ability. Your success in the jobs you get will depend not just on your quantitative and verbal skills that had helped you successfully crack the CAT.

The challenges on the job will demand a lot more: social skills, ethical behaviour, capacity for on-the job-learning, emotional maturity and leadership. Here, I attempt to highlight some of these: The learning curve: From the day one of joining the program, you have to move steeply up the learning curve. Your accelerated learning has to accommodate reading upto 200 pages of printed matter a day.

The readings will include case studies, books and newspapers for general awareness. You will be dissecting a human enterprise with the help of theories of demand, constraints, emotions and behaviour. You will be tested for your ability of not just learning by rote, but also learning from the experience of practising mangers and some wise professors.

Time & self-management: You have to complete at least 36 courses of 30 contact hours each in two years. Time passes by like a rocket and if you are not self-organised, you may feel like an astronaut who has just missed the spacecraft! Everything here may seem to be at an accelerated pace than your "previous life". Some B-schools insist on a minimum percentage of class attendance. So, chronic bunking downgrades you in more ways than one.

Every day you may have to make critical multiple choice decisions about time management. One student describes this as follows: (a) have bath and breakfast both (becoming rarity in campus), (b) bath but no breakfast, (c) breakfast but no bath, and (d) neither (becoming an alarmingly regular option).

The mess food: The food in the mess, like in most students' mess, is likely to obey the law of marginal utility that you study in economics: the more you have, the less you want to have. A student light-heartedly describes mess food as an advance warning: "You may have a stomach-churning unforgettable experience of drinking a liquid preparation that the mess cook calls soup!"

There are some students who overeat as a defence against anxiety they are unable to handle. This gorging is more evident before exams--you eat as an advanced compensation before you are eaten up by your exams! In all earnestness, you may have to plan the right diet for you to be in match condition for the challenging MBA curriculum.

Each year, some students are asked to repeat or abandon the programme because they are not able to cope. You certainly do not want to be one of them. Gender parity: Most high-profile MBA program have adverse gender ratios that are generally skewed in favour of male students (about 90%).

Women constitute roughly 10% of the batch size. At IIM-Kozhikode this year, we have some good news for those who believe that women make good managers: about one-third of the incoming MBA batch of 300 will be women. This is very different from the usual. It means that you have to be man enough to be very well-behaved and courteous before an intelligent female classmate.

All the women that you would see here have come on their own merit and deserve to be respected for who they are. Besides, most women come with the requisite social and managerial skills that make them equal to or more than men in the eyes of the top recruiters of the world.

Think of Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo, or Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO of ICICI Bank--you will get the picture.

Multi-dimensional character: If you are a potential Nobel laureate and a social entrepreneur like Muhammud Yunus, you will not be a complete misfit in the MBA course. We have had people who have owned their own football clubs and scripted promos for Bollywood after passing out from IIMs.

Yunus of Grameen Bank, for instance, talks about the multi-dimensional man who does not want to do business for profit alone. He says we can put poverty in the museum. Imagine! So, what is this multi-dimensional human? Yunus thinks people are motivated by a variety of impulses--not simply a desire to get filthy rich. The existing system, says Yunus, has created a one-dimensional human being to play the role of business leader. We've insulated him from the rest of life, the religious, emotional, political, and social.

He is dedicated to one mission only-maximise profit. If you want to change the system being part of the system, you are welcome to IIM Kozhikode. Here we encourage not exclusive mercenaries, but inclusive excellence. We are privileged here to create socially sensitive citizens who would some day lead India in their chosen paths of excellence.

My interests

C.R.I.C.K.E.T. A sport i really loved playing and have always bugged my school friends to play. Its a game i grew up watching or any Indian kid will be accustomed to from the day he/she starts walking around her home. I was watching the game starting from Mohammed Azharuddin days till Rahul Dravid was the captain of the Indian cricket team. I took a break from the sport during my +1 AND +2 and then during my coll days started getting inspired by the captain rather than the sport..LoL! Four months back when I sat for a mock interview, I was questioned on my sporting interests and I happened to say cricket. This really brought a kind of weird feeling in me..what have i been doing all these years? Jus watching the game or the players? Yes there's a difference between watching the game and analysing the game. When i was discussing the game with my schoolmate, i realised in an attempt to be a nerd i had lost all the proclivity i had as a child, to analyze a game i am genetically associated to. I remember how I took 5 wickets in a small cricket match as a child during my games class in 5th. I also remember purchasing my first Sachin willow bat in Bangalore and i still cherish it..after all it was my first cricket bat!:) These memories flashed across as I played this game after a really long time with my college mates along the shores of Marina Beach with a make-shift bat(my book)and a ball which my friend brought, faltered very badly while bowling and wicket keeping, felt like a novice at the game. I just wish i could play a real cricket match atleast once in my life! That will be a day when i can raise my arms and say 'THIS IS IT'!

The UID Project

The Indian Government had decided earlier last year to appoint Nandan Nilekani , former co-chairman of Infosys Technologies, as the in charge for the Unique Identification Card Project. The project combined with the census is a considered to remove the need to show hell number of documents for official transactions and avail a citizen easy access to national facilities and schemes. The project is being carried out by some of the most experienced and innovative minds of the Software Industry with the grit to do their best and create a foolproof system. The project aims to initially get the details of individuals through door to door data collection by government officials in the first phase. This will be followed by gathering biometrics of citizens at centres across the country. The best part of the UID project is the efficiently designed kit ,it consists of a laptop, fingerprint scanner ,iris scanner and a printer in a easy to open case divided into slots for each of these. The citizen will get to view his details on the lap followed by scanning his fingers (both left and right) and iris. The data after verification is saved and you can print a copy of the ID on paper with the printer attached to the laptop. The uneducated citizens can seek help of a trusted fellow citizen to view the correctness of the details .So, this is a bird’s eye view of what awaits you at the booth when you get the opportunity to flaunt your citizenship in this country with a portable ID ! 

Hath been cursed

The state of Andhra Pradesh is home to people of different religions and communities. One such community among the Hindus is called Velama, they comprised the military group under the kings, history records their existence from the mid 15th century .This community extended from part of Maratha region(then Vidharbha), Karnataka and extended down Telangana to the coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The rise of this warrior group can be seen during the Kakatiya Period and eventually their ascend to the throne is shown in the history. This did not last long, a cruel ruler of this sect had created a new taxation system in which he created goblets in the shape of a woman's breast, where the women filled a goblet which matched their breast size with coins- the tax! This lascivious law of the ruler ruined the rise of the future generations to the pinnacle of glory due to curse by a lady of the kingdom. When once the king's men asked a woman to measure her bosom size with a goblet, she chopped her breast on the spot and died laying her curse on the community forever. This story seems fictional however the talent of these mighty warriors cannot be denigrated by a curse.

PRESERVE YOUR GREENS THE “ECO FRIENDLY AND ECONOMIC” WAY

Two students of Rajalakshmi Engineering College have come up with an innovative idea to preserve greens on a small scale in an Eco friendly and cost effective way.
Given the Indian scenario that more than 40% of the farm produce of fruits and veggies is lost to spoilage during storage and transport it is very important to concentrate on preserving the produce in an economically viable and environment friendly manner.

N.Gayathree and Gayatri Shankar are final year students of the Department of Biotechnology of Rajalakshmi Engineering College. According to these students they envisioned this creative concept of developing such bags last year when they were working on a class assignment. A further study on the ripening of fruits helped them understand the current scenario of fruit preservation and helped them engage in employing easily available raw materials for the development of their product. The product is a double layered bag with the property of maintaining an Ethylene free atmosphere for the fruits placed inside it. The main aim is to resolve the problems associated with loss of produce due to over ripening and thus associated spoilage of fruits. These bags have been tested by them using green tomatoes and found to have a good effect in delaying the ripening of the same by 6 days. The team intends to carry out further tests related to the toxicity and the effect on different types of fruits in the near future.

A page from my diary

There are some people who turn out to be close to you during a season of your life- my case college! I have seen one such person a really brilliant girl in her younger years, a person whom all my friends including myself regarded as a person who should be part of the scientific community for her consistent dedication and perseverance to unravel the mysteries of science! Ha ha..i never thought i would actually study in a college with her! Wow! Its really satisfying that the dream of a successful scientist is on her way. It is at these times even atheist turns theist, there is a supreme being above us who at times ensures justice is awarded to hard work and talent. Thanks god! The foundation has been laid! :)

‘Saleem- Anarkali’- The Indian version of Romeo and Juliet

Mughal-E-Azam,is the monumental film based on the supposed battle between the famous father and son duo of the Indian history ,Akbar and Jahangir, due to the courtesan Anarkali. The truth behind the existence of this lady is still unknown but history reveals the existence of a battle between them and with this as backdrop the story has been written. The director of this film, K.Asif, had created this magnum opus for the Indian audience at an expenditure of 1.5 crores, a figure unlikely of been heard during the era of Dilip Kumar (but contemporary directors can afford such a budget ). The movie’s release saw a sea of people wait outside the theatre , a seen unprecedented in the history of Indian films, surpassed later by Ramesh Sippy’s ‘SHOLAY’ starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.

Mughal-E-Azam, starring Prithviraj Kapoor , Dilp Kumar and Madhubala., is known mainly for the excellent dialogue delivery ,the art direction and Naushad Sahib’s endearing music( nobody can miss that). The star attraction of the movie was the song
“ Pyar kiya toh Darna Kya” a song which motivated hundreds of couples to confess their love to their parents with boldness, urged them to show reverence to their love and to go to any heights to save their love!. The battleground in which Saleem fights a battle against his own father with Anarkali on his horseback, brings the audience to the edge of their seats! The army involved in this scene was the national army in deed. How could I forget the royalty with which Prithviraj Kapoor played Akbar? Or the dancers who performed at the court in the background with such perfection ? They transport us for a fleeting moment to the Mughul era; an era which gave the Indian culture a major asset in terms of Architecture- Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb or the Fatehpur Sikri, Literature- Dīn-i Ilāhī or the Mughul cuisine which we relish at Indian weddings to this date.

This movie saw the growth of Lata Mangeshkar as a singer and creating of a movie in the History of Indian cinema which has been credited of being the first movie to be made in technicolour from original black and white version. It inspired our very own Ashutosh Govarikar to make the grand um opus‘ Jodha Akbar’. The movie which is a leaf from an instance in Akbar’s life has set a landmark which any Indian movie has not surpassed, the glory of Indian cinema has been in great artworks such as this one. Lets hope our Indian film fraternity make more movies of this genre and prove their elan.

Here comes a new addition to the famous american family

Chelsea Victoria Clinton is the daughter of the former U.S. President, Bill Clinton and the current U.S. Secretary Of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton. She is one famous daughter, I have grown up watching, she would be standing beside her powerful parents in most of the public appearances or campaigns, this curly haired media-shy kid grew up to be a Standford and Oxford grad, now co-chairing the Clinton Foundation. She had a crucial role in helping her parents stay united even after her dad’s allegiance in a scandel which marred his image. She has been the perfect daughter without involving herself in any activities which would slander her parent’s image in the society ( rather the world.)
This lady is symbol of how a child plays a vital role in maintaining the family
United. Today July 31, 2010, she will be walking the aisle led by one of America’s most charismatic individual to say ‘ I do’ to her childhood friend and Westbank employee. Have a happy married life Chelsi !

DOSTANA

We, being gregarious animals , are bound to make friends in every step of our life…starting with the “Chaddi ki Badi” or the acquaintance who becomes your 9:00 call! In the middle of all this comes a friendship or I should say a bond…a bond which may be imagined like the signal transduction depicted in the movie AVATAR…with what we call ‘animals’…the feline or canine or avian or aquatic as the case may be…in fact the other day I realised that things have changed and even the mollusk seem to make good pets J!
Why m I pondering over this?I m going to tell you about the person in my life…..she is the one I love the most…after my parents…thats my cat: BHUJI !! She has grown up with me,much faster actually, has had kids, grand kids and grand grand kids. It was way back on Feb 1998,she arrived at our doorstep as a wan looking kitten...nearly dying out of hunger…but my parents rescued that cute creature by feeding her milk on a coconut shell and of course I did support the attempt. From that day she has been a part and parcel of our household, sleeping inside the cupboard, on the sofa , veranda , neighbour’s car ,bike [ and yes sometimes I would find a soft cushion near my bed and kick it]. Next morning realised tat it was her ] and almost every room was accessible including the bathroom , where she would lie during summer under dehydrated conditions.

I have lost count of how many kids she had....but I have shared a good rapport with most of her kids…cos most of them were born in my room...under my bed[that was her maternity ward ]!
A few months back she had a abortion….she was bleeding profusely….was painful to watch her suffer….now she is back to normal….!! Today she is almost 12 years old and has lost the cornea of one eye. I sincerely pray to god that she has a healthy life ahead and lives to watch my kids!!!
